My Boston Terrier plays hard AF when I take him to the park every day. Unfortunately, the side effects are dry and sore paws.
I’ve found that the best solution to preventing and healing sore paws is this DIY Paw Balm recipe – it’s so easy to make and works incredibly well!
What you’re going to need before you get started:
INGREDIENTS:
- Pot for heating up water
- Glass bowl or mason jar
- Silicon mold or container
- Shea butter
- Coconut oil (2-3 tablespoons)
- Natural beeswax (2 tablespoons)
- Lavender essential oil (1-2 drops)
- Frankincense essential oil (1-2 drops)
- Peppermint essential oil (1-2 drops) If your dog is really sensitive to smells, use only 1 drop of each oil!
** You can also add Vitamin E oil and jojoba oil into the mix!
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Fill a pot about one-third full with water and heat to medium-low.
- Use a glass mason jar or bowl to mix the following ingredients in:
- Beeswax
- Shea Butter
- Coconut oil
3. Place the glass bowl or jar into the pot of boiling water – allow it to simmer until all of the ingredients are mixed & melted! (This can take anywhere from 10-20 minutes)
4. Remove from the heat and add the essential oils and other preferred ingredients. Mix and pour into mold or container.
5. I topped it off with flower herbs and amethyst crystal – to promote healing and relaxation to my pup!
